Roasted daily on Pearl Street

Emerald
Coffee

Small-batch beans roasted over low, patient heat — then pulled into something that tastes like a warm room on a cold morning.

Open today · 7:00am – 6:00pm · 214 Pearl St.

A cup of coffee steaming on a wooden cafe table in front of an arched window at sunrise.

Our craft

Three things we refuse to rush.

Every cup at Emerald passes through the same unhurried hands, from green bean to the last inch of foam.

The slow roast

We roast in 12-kilo batches, low and long, so the sugars caramelize instead of scorching. Nothing sits on our shelf more than nine days.

Growers we know

Four farms, four handshakes. We buy direct from Huila, Yirgacheffe, Antigua, and Chiapas — and we pay above fair-trade, every harvest.

Pulled with care

Every shot is dialed in twice daily against the day's humidity. If it isn't right, we dump it and start over. You'll never taste the difference — that's the point.

Honey Cardamom Latte

Our house signature. Wildflower honey, cracked green cardamom, and a double shot under steamed milk.

Emerald Cortado

Equal parts espresso and milk, served in a small glass. Dark cherry up front, cocoa on the finish.

Slow Pour-Over

Four minutes, one cone, whichever single origin came off the roaster this week. Brewed to order.

A day at Emerald

The room changes by the hour.

Come for the quiet or come for the noise — they arrive at different times.

5:00

Ovens on

Buns proof, the roaster comes up to heat, and the whole block starts to smell like it.

7:00

Doors open

The commuter rush. Order at the bar, we'll have it in ninety seconds.

10:00

The good light

It goes soft and gold in the corner. Laptops welcome, headphones encouraged.

4:00

Last pour

Slow bar only. Whatever's left of the day's roast, brewed by hand.

Come sit by the window.

There's a long oak table, decent wifi, and a corner seat that gets the good light around ten.

From the regulars

I came in for a quick coffee eleven months ago and I've somehow been here every morning since. The cardamom bun is a personal problem.

Monday mornings

What's on the chalkboard this week?

One short email each Monday: the new origin, what came out of the oven, and the odd free-pastry code. Nothing else, ever.
